The java.lang.instrument package provides services that allow Java programming language agents to instrument programs running on the JVM. Instrumentation is used by tools such as profilers, tools for tracing method calls, and many others. The package facilitates both load-time and dynamic instrumentation. It also includes methods to obtain information about the loaded classes and information about the amount of storage consumed by a given object.
